Building Traffic with Sitehoppin: Is it Possible?

SitehoppinSitehoppin is a social network similar to Stumbleupon. Sitehoppin users can submit, rate and surf websites. Is it possible to use Sitehoppin to build traffic?

It's possible to earn credits on Sitehoppin by performing certain activities. These credits can then be used to automatically direct some of Sitehoppin's auto-surfing traffic to your webpage.

Here's the list of activities which earn credits:
  • submitting a webpage to Sitehoppin
  • rating a webpage
  • auto-surfing with Sitehoppin
  • sending visitors to Sitehoppin via the optional widget
I've used Sitehoppin on one of my websites for the last 18 months. Let's take a quick look at the stats:
  • total visitors: 628
  • visitors to page set for auto-surfing: 481 (bounce rate 81%)
  • visitors to approx 50 pages submitted: 147 (bounce rate 95%)
An average of 2 visitors per year to the pages submitted and 27 per month to the auto-surfed page.

Based on the figures, I wouldn't recommend using Sitehoppin to build traffic. If you decide to give it a try anyway, let me know how you get on ;-)
